3 Lettering Workshops in October 2020, for both beginner & advance level.

Chandan Mahimkar has taught graphic design, typography & lettering to over 400 participants, and now he has carefully conceived these 3 workshops to teach you the best lettering techniques, process, tips and insights. These are fundamentals and techniques he uses as a typographer & lettering artist. Each participant learns from original lettering examples and a guided process. Participants receive one-on-one feedback from Chandan on their work.


All 3 workshops are now over, thank you for the amazing response. Since each workshop is for limited no. of participants, those who could not attend these workshops will have to look forward for future announcements on this website or our Instagram feed.

Workshop 1

HAND LETTERING MADE EASY

An online workshop for beginners in lettering.

Dates: 2nd & 4th Oct. Venue: Zoom
Time: India - 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, UK - 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, NYC - 6:30 am to 9:00 am.


Why Hand Lettering?
The beauty of hand lettering is its flexibility and adaptability. It can be found in so many forms and so many different types of media that it appeals to almost every audience. From whimsical to elegant, and old school to new school – there is hand lettering style for everyone.

 

What participants will learn:

- Fundamentals of hand lettering
- An original & simple 7-step process
- Composition technique
- Style inspirations
- Pairing examples
- Execution tips and techniques


In this workshop Chandan will introduce you to the art & process of hand lettering. He will teach you his simple 7-Step process of hand lettering. Tips & techniques to compose, add style and consistency to your lettering creations. These are the same techniques that he teaches in top design schools in India and internationally. Participants will also learn about using the right art materials for their lettering.

 

Each participant will get personal feedback from Chandan on their lettering piece.

  • Black Micro tip pens and sketch pens

  • 6-10 A4 sheets of paper

  • 2-3 A4 Tracing sheets

Workshop 2
LIGATURES AND LETTERING STYLES

An online workshop for both beginner & advance level in lettering.

Dates: 9th & 11th Oct. Venue: Zoom 

Time: India - 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, UK - 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, NYC - 6:30 am to 9:00 am.

This is one-of-a-kind workshop on the art of ligatures and lettering styles.


LIGATURES
They are an integral part of lettering. Chandan shares his tips and techniques to create effortless ligatures. He shares his original ligature examples and gives demos to achieve the results. Ligatures are connections in letterforms which make your compositions unique and compact. Simplest of lettering compositions start to look extraordinary, as a result of well-balanced ligatures.
Ligatures add tremendous value in any lettering project or an individual piece. It makes words become more attractive and cohesive.


LETTERING STYLES
It can become quite confusing as to which lettering style to practice on, or how to choose a perfect lettering style. Chandan focuses on some of the most timeless lettering styles to create his lettering pieces. He will share these styles and their simple creation process.

Workshop 3
LETTERING FOR FREELANCE GROWTH

An online workshop for lettering artists & calligraphers, both beginner & advance level.
(Also suitable for Graphic Designers, Art Directors, Design Students, Typographers, Illustrators, UI Designers, Apparel Designers)

Dates: 16th, 17th & 18th Oct. Venue: Zoom 

Time: India - 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, UK - 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, NYC - 6:30 am to 8:30 am.

This is one-of-a-kind workshop to help you learn lettering's commercial use, techniques and much more.
